A German anti-aircraft gun

The latest anti-aircraft equipment was bought from Germany. For defence purposes, the purchase of 88 mm RMB anti-aircraft guns was critical. The artillery batteries were scattered around the city and on nearby islands. The photo shows a secondary cannon being launched on the Käpylä district’s Taivaskallio rocks. An important artillery battery was also located in Kaivopuisto park, which was nicknamed "Kaivo" (‘the Well’).
