Helsinki's royal manor 1555

A drawing of an island. In the middle a group of houses surrounded by a wooden palisade wall. Wooden fences are also blocking the straight on the left of the island. There is a little harbour and a sailing boat next to eat.
A sketch of the potential appearance of Helsinki's royal manor in 1555. The number of buildings is based on studies by Gunvor Kerkkonen, on the basis of which Jaana Mellanen and Markku Heikkinen created an illustrated reconstruction. The southern coastline of the island was considerably further north than it is today.
