The Department of Physiology, designed by architect Gustaf Nyström and completed in 1905 (Siltavuorenpenger 20 J) can be seen to the right. The brick building behind the horse-drawn carriage was a Swedish-speaking primary school. The drawings were signed by architect Onni Törnqvist (later Tarjanne), and they do not depict any water closets, but outdoor toilets. The building was completed in 1899. The tram tracks turn onto what is now Liisankatu.
