Armas Lindgrens plan for the new City Hall

An architecture competition for the new Helsinki City Hall was held in 1913. The winner was Armas Lindgren with a design inspired by the town halls of Central Europe. However, this design was not enough for the city administration either, and Lindgren was only awarded second place in the competition. The plan was never realised, and the Seurahuone building designed by C. L. Engel was renovated and still serves as the City Hall.
